The Hertfordshire County Swimming Championships, which are held over 3 consecutive weekends, started on Saturday at The Venue in Borehamwood. A total of 21 swimmers from Cheshunt swimming club qualified with 10 in action in Session 1 on Saturday.
Chloe Berko-Boateng was the first to compete on the 100m Butterfly. A personal best time of 1:15.82 saw her just missing out on the final of the 13yrs in 10th place.

The 15yr girls were next with Alara Norton setting a PB of 1:11.51 and making the finals, finishing in 4th place. Courtney Burke also swam well lowering her PB by over a second in 10th place.

Millie Donovan was another finalist, in the 16 and over girls, improving her 8th place seeding by finishing in 6th. Tegan Wollaston also had a strong swim finishing 10th.

The boys 100m Backstroke was the next event with Taylor Coe again finishing 10th taking over 5 seconds of his previous PB. Zane Batt& Callum Wollaston also qualified for the final in the 13 & 15yr old events. Callum improved his PB, finishing in 6th place, with Zane showing all the other swimmers a clean pair of heels by storming away from the field in the final, coming first with an excellent new PB of 1:11.67. Adam Bailey also lowered his PB in the 15yr age group finishing in 14th place.

Session 2 saw the reverse of the morning events. Sienna Treglohan made the final of the 12yr age group and just missed out on a medal in 4th place. Emily Lush also opened her account in the 14yr age group coming 6th in the final. The 15yr age group saw Eleanor Turpin and Megan Pope in action finishing 12th& 13th respectively.

Session 3 was the 200m IM for both boys & girls. The following all swam well in their respective age groups; Sienna Treglohan 13th, Emily Lush 11th, Megan Pope 13th, Tegan Wollaston 8th, Taylor Coe 10th& Callum Wollaston 20th.

Sunday saw Session 4, the girls 100m Breaststroke & Boys 100m Freestyle.  Dayna Shepperson, swimming in her first County Championship, came 13th in the 10/11yr age group with Ela Norton 10th 12yr group and a new PB.  Chloe Berko-Boateng just missed out on the final of the 13year olds in 9th place.  The 15yr old age group saw Alara Norton, Megan Pope & Holly Atkins in action.  Megan & Holly finished 15th& 16th respectively with Alara qualifying for the final in the bronze medal position.  An excellent swim in the final saw Alara come away with the silver medal. The 100m Freestyle saw Aaron Pickard & Taylor Coe go head to head in the 12yr old age group, with them both recording exactly the same time of 1:16.60.  Adam Bailey swam a strong race in the 15yr old age group with Callum Wollaston breaking the 1 minute barrier, for the first time, finishing in 10th place in 59.38.

The final session on Sunday saw the reverse of the morning events.  Dayna Shepperson reached her 1st County Final and finished in 6th place.  Sienna Treglohan was just outside the final in 10th place & Emily Lush qualified for the final of the 14yr age group swimming a fantastic race and coming away with a bronze medal in 1:03.38.  Tegan Wollaston, Emily South & Millie Donovan were all in action in the 16+ age group finishing in 12th 20th& 26th places respectively.  The boys 100m Breaststroke saw Woody South, in his first County race, set a PB and finish in 10th place.  Daniel Lush was the last to swim in the 16+ age group finishing in 20th place with a new PB of 1:15.47
